Who we are?

IDFC Foundation
IDFC Foundation is a premier non-profit organisation established in 2011 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of IDFC Ltd. IDFC Foundation is committed to improving the quality of life for communities across India through impactful, sustainable solutions. Our mission spans a broad range of activities that promote inclusive growth, focusing on infrastructure development, livelihood enhancement, and climate resilience. By partnering with government bodies, NGOs, and local communities, we work to address key social, economic, and environmental challenges.

At the heart of our efforts is a commitment to sustainable urban development. We promote innovative practices in sustainable mobility, green technologies, and infrastructure, ensuring the creation of more livable, equitable, and environmentally conscious cities. Our initiatives focus on advancing climate-friendly solutions, fostering resilience, and addressing the unique challenges faced by underserved urban and rural areas.

In addition, we prioritize the empowerment of youth and the use of data-driven insights to foster positive change. By supporting innovation, entrepreneurship, and skill development, we ensure that our projects deliver long-lasting benefits for all segments of society. Together, we are working toward a future that is resilient, inclusive, and sustainable for generations to come.

Key Objectives

IDFC Foundation is committed to fostering sustainable development, economic growth, and social equity across India.

Policy Advisory & Advocacy

To influence and shape public policy frameworks that promote sustainable infrastructure growth and ensure affordable, high-quality services for all. We aim to support governments at various levels in designing policies that encourage private investment, improve public service delivery, and foster economic inclusion.

Capacity Building

To strengthen institutional capabilities and governance at both the national and regional levels by implementing training programs for government officials, municipal bodies, and elected representatives. We work towards building robust public institutions that can effectively respond to urbanisation challenges, ensure efficient public service delivery, and drive local development.

Government Advisory Services

To provide expert advisory and consulting services to ministries, public sector units, and state governments. Our goal is to support the adoption of innovative infrastructure solutions and promote public-private partnerships, thereby facilitating sustainable development and modernising public governance.

Philanthropic Initiatives

To drive positive social impact through various community-based programs that enhance education, healthcare, digital literacy, and rural development. Our focus is on empowering underserved populations by improving access to essential services and creating opportunities for inclusive growth.

Environmental Sustainability

To contribute to global sustainability goals by promoting green technologies, reducing carbon footprints, and participating in climate resilience initiatives. We aim to support the transition to a low-carbon economy and create environmentally responsible communities through targeted interventions and employee-driven initiatives. The Environmental Sustainability Group (ESG) under Foundation having its internal environment policy put efforts towards becoming a carbon neutral organisation, supporting socially and strategically relevant programs and ‘shramdaan’ by IDFC employees.

By pursuing these objectives, IDFC Foundation aims to bridge gaps between policy, implementation, and community engagement, thereby driving inclusive and impactful development across India.
